Description
Close to the site of a former ferry crossing on the River Dee. The building appears to date from the 17th century and was remodelled in the 19th and late 20th centuries. It is now a public house and restaurant. Sandstone rubble walls, slate roof and brick stacks. Formerly 2 houses, that to the left with a 2-storey 2-window front with a brick rebuilding visible at the eaves. The entrance is to the right, with a later door and bay window. Upper floor windows are cast-iron multipaned casements. The house to the right is single-storey over a basement with 19th-century hipped dormers to the attic, and dressed stone quoins. There are steps up to the central entrance, with low entrance to the basement to the left. The interior has been remodelled and the two houses converted into one. The ground floor rooms have heavy chamfered and stopped beams, with a fireplace with bressumer in the right hand section, and a 19th-century winding stair. The upper floor has a partially exposed and altered roof truss.
