Event and Historical Information:
The PRINCESS ROYAL was a wooden schooner built at Barmouth in 1858. Technical and configuration specifications are given as 96gt, 96nt; 74ft 1in length x 20ft 3in breadth x 10ft 6in depth; fastened with iron bolts. At time of loss 29 November 1885, the vessel was owned by W Williams of Pentrefelin (also the master). The schooner was carrying roofing slate from Porthmadog to Lynn (Kings Lynn?) when it was caught in a westerly force 7 and foundered off Abersoch.
