Event and Historical Information:
The PWLLHELI PACKET was a 19nt wooden smack built at Porthmadog in 1833. At time of loss on 30 September 1873, the vessel was owned by O Jones of Byncroes, Caernarfon. It was carrying 33tons of roofing slate from Caernarfon to Haverfordwest when it sprang a leak 4 miles northeast of Bardsey Island. The crew were forced to take to their boat. The smack foundered 15 minutes later.
