Event and Historical Information:
The ANNE was a wooden ketch built in 1877 at Falmouth by Charles Burt. Technical and configuration specifications are given as 65gt, 59nt; 70ft 5in length x 19ft 8in breadth x 8ft 8in depth; partly fastened with iron bolts. At time of loss on 13 October 1888, the vessel was owned by C B Kelway & Co of Falmouth and registered at that port. It was carrying china clay from Charleston to Runcorn under the command of master R Chapman when it was in collision with the Preston registered schooner HARVEST MAID some 6 miles northwest of the Caernarfon bay lightship. The ANNE subsequently foundered.
