Event and Historical Information:
The SCOTIA was a 55nt wooden schooner built in 1837. At time of loss on 8 December 1886, the vessel was owned by Mrs Parry of Caernarfon and registered at that port. The schooner was carrying roofing slate from Caernarfon to Bristol under the command of J Edwards when it was caught by a south-southwesterly force 9 gale. The schooner was blown ashore near Pwllheli.
