Event and Historical Information:
The LADY FIELDING was a wooden schooner built by David Jones and John Hughes at Flint in 1849. Technical and configuration specifications are given as 47.33 tons burthen; 58ft length x 16.2ft breadth x 8.4ft depth in hold; 1 deck, 2 masts, schooner rigged with a standing bowsprit, round sterned, carvel built, gammon knee head; official number 16470. The schooner was placed on the Port of Chester Shipping Register (7 in 1849) by its builders. Subsequent transactions reveal the sale of shares to Owen Jones of Llandegfan, Anglesey; Hezekiah Mathers of Caernarfon, druggist; David Williams of Bangor, slate merchant; William Evans of Amlwch, master mariner; Ebenezer Griffiths of Amlwch, master mariner; and Owen Hughes of Amlwch, shipowner, amongst others. At time of loss on 11 August 1910, the vessel was carrying a cargo of culm from Swansea to Llanidan on Anglesey. It was wrecked 2 miles east of Aberdaron.
