Event and Historical Information:
The DAISY was a wooden brig (or snow - sources differ) built at Pallion (or Sunderland - sources differ), Co Durham, in 1862. Technical and configuration specifications are given as 311nt; 109ft length x 26.8ft breadth x 17.1ft depth; 1 deck, 2 masts, rigged as a brig, square stern, carvel built, billet head, framework wood; official number 44468. The vessel was placed on the port of Bristol Shipping Register in 1867 (4 in 1867, formerly 59 in 1862 at Sunderland). At time of loss on 11 November 1877, the vessel was owned by Lucas Brothers & Co of Bristol. The vessel was on passage from West Africa to Bristol under the command of master E B Ellis when it was caught in a west-northwesterly force 8 gale. The vessel's registry entry was closed with the annotation 'Wrecked at Pembrey 11 November 1877.'
