Event and Historical Information:
The JANE AND SARAH was a wooden brig built 1830 at Appledore. Technical and configuration specifications are given as 66gt, 57.6nt; 55ft 7in length x 16ft 8in breadth x 9ft 6in depth; 1 deck, 2 masts, variously described as a schooner, a brig, 'square sail forward, schooner aft' and brigantine in its registration documention. The vessel's original owner was John Hicks of Padstow, but the vessel was sold to N Phillips in 1837 and transferred to Penzance. At time of loss on 22 November 1847, the vessel was on passage from Truro to Liverpool under the command of master John Kneebone. The brig was wrecked near Amlwch.
