This record comprises a documentary reference to a shipping casualty which has been assigned to the maritime named location OFF HOLYHEAD pending more information which may allow a more precise location for the loss to be assigned.

Event and Historical Information:
The ARAMINTA was a full-rigged ship built in Quebec in 1842. Technical and configuration specifications are given as 830gt, 547nt; 127ft 1in length x 26ft 6in breadth x 19ft 7in depth; partly made of fir and spruce; sheathed in yellow metal. At time of loss on 18 March 1867, the vessel was owned by Hamiltons & Co and registered at Glasgow. The ship was carrying salt from Liverpool to Boston when it foundered off Holyhead during an east-southeasterly force 9 gale.
