Description
Archaeological remains associated with the loss of this vessel are not confirmed as present at this location, but may be in the vicinity.

Event and Historical Information:
The PRIDE OF LIVERPOOL was a 64nt wooden schooner built in 1861. It was owned by the Mersey Docks and Harbour Board and was being used as the mobile base for 12 of the Mersey's pilots (i.e. the pilots could be transferred to and from ships inbound or outward bound at the beginning of the approaches to Liverpool). On 16 February 1890, there was a dense fog and the schooner was in collision with the Liverpool registered steamship RYDAL WATER. The PRIDE OF LIVERPOOL subsequently foundered 6 miles northeast of Point Lynas with the loss of one life.
