Description
Glascoed is a cruciform-shaped two-storey house with an attic and a pitched slate roof. The house was originally timber-framed, some of which survives, although it is now brick-nogged. There are also both brick and stone parts. The main ridge runs E-W with lower wings projecting N and S. There is a central cluster of brick stacks to the main range. Internally, an ornamented plaster ceiling was present to a first floor bedroom, but no longer survives. A 17th-century well staircase runs through two storeys, with pierced, flat balusters and square, finialed newels. The house was the home of the Kyffin family, and later Sir William Williams, Speaker of the House of Commons.
