Event and Historical Information:
The SNOWDON was a 662gt wooden barque, built by Gingras in 1868, and registered at Quebec. Its measured 156ft 3in length x 31ft 4in breadth x 20ft 3in height. In November 1886 the barque was carrying wood from Pensacola to Belfast, under the command of master K E W Holmberg. It was stranded near Tenby in a northerly force 9-10 gale, and lost with all 15 crewmembers.
