This record comprises a documentary reference to a shipping casualty which has been assigned to the maritime named location LINNEY HEAD pending more information which may allow a more precise location for the loss to be assigned.

Event and Historical Information:
The KOODOO (or Kudu, an African antelope) was a wooden brigantine built by White at Charlottestown, Prince Edward Island, in 1864. Technical and configuration specifications are given as 200gt, 183nt (or 179nt - sources differ); 104ft length x 24ft breadth x 12ft depth: 1 deck, 2 masts. The vessel's first owner was Archibald Currie, a merchant of NewYork City. It was sold in 1865 to Nicholas Sparke Stabb, merchant of Newfoundland. The brigantine's Canadian registry was closed in 1872 when it was transferred to Stranraer. At time of loss on 21 January 1888, the vessel was owned by R Killen of Dublin and registered at that port. The brigantine was on passage from Limerick to Cardiff when it became stranded near Linney Head.
