Description
Finds recovered and reported to the Receiver of Wreck include a brass letter 'O'; the ship's bell; portholes; a silver coffee pot and a pair of binoculars. The precise location of the wreck is unconfirmed (see NPRN 240879 UNKNOWN). The full character and extent of archaeological remains is presently unknown.

Event and Historical Information:
The HIGHLAND HOME was an iron-hulled barque built by Ramage and Ferguson, Leith, in 1886. Technical and configuration specifications are given as 1371gt, 1298nt; 234ft length x 37ft breadth x 21ft 2in depth; 1 deck, 1 bulkhead, passenger deck 31ft, forecastle 28ft; official number 93250. At time of loss, the vessel was owned by J R Cutherbertson, Glasgow, and was on passage from Fleetwood to London. The barque was undertow to the steam tug WARRIOR between St Anne's Head and West Freshwater Bay. The tow parted and the two vessel's became separated. Wreckage from the HIGHLAND HOME was later found in Freshwater Bay and around Linney Head.
