Event and Historical Information:
The EMILY was a wooden sailing vessel belonging to the port of Youghal. At time of loss on 23 March 1857, the EMILY was on passage from Barrow-in-Furness to Newport (Gwent) under the command of master Eliis. The vessel was run down by the Liverpool-registered steamship SOVERIEGN off Sheep Island and sank immediately with the loss of three crewmembers.
