Description
This record comprises a documentary reference to a shipping casualty which has been assigned to the maritime named location CEFN SIDAN pending more information which may allow a more precise location for the loss to be assigned.

Event and Historical Information:
The MARY B was a 115nt wooden brigantine, built in 1842 and registered at Llanelli. At the time of loss, 18 January 1872, the vessel was owned by F Randall and under the command of H Edwards. The MARY B was sailing from Honfleur to Llanlelli when it was stranded in a west-southwesterly force 8 gale, on Cefn Sidan Sands. All six crew member lives were lost.
