Event and Historical Information:
The TONY (TONI?) was a 1078nt wooden barque, built in 1891 and registered in Genoa, Italy. At time of loss the vessel was owned by G B Lavarello of Genoa and under the command of captain E Mortola. On 26 October 1899 the vessel was sailing from Avonport, Nova Scotia to Swansea with a cargo of wood when it was stranded 6 miles west-northwest of Burry Point.
