Description
Archaeological remains associated with the loss of this vessel are not confirmed as present at this location, but may be in the vicinity.

Event and Historical Information:
The BOSCASTLE was a 42nt wooden sloop built in France in 1793. At time of loss on 29 January 1815, the vessel was owned by J Avery of Padstow and registeredat that port. It is possible that the sloop was a French prize from the Napoleonic wars, having been first entered onto the Padstow registry in 1805. the sloop traded from Boscastle, on this occasion carrying a cargo of wheat to Bristol under the command of master William Pope. The sloop was lost with all hands near Aberthaw.
