Event and Historical Information:
The KINGSTON was a wooden schooner or barquentine built at New Brunswick in 1836. Lloyds's Register noted 130tons and that the vessel was partially fastened with itron bolts and had undergone small repairs in 1850 and 1852. The vessel was registered at Cork (official number 8433) and the owner was W Penny. On 25 October 1859, the KINGSTON was caught in a southerly force 8 gale (the Royal Charter Gale) and was driven ashore under Penarth Head. The vessel was reported to be much damaged.
