Event and Historical Information:
The QUEEN was a 70nt wooden steam barge; screw propulsion, powered by a single boiler linked to a compound engine. At the time of loss on 20 May 1887, the vessel was owned by W Westlake of Swansea and captained by J Neilson. The QUEEN parted her moorings in a westerly force 9 gale, whilst carrying out salvage work on a wrecked vessel, then driven ashore in Langland Bay, Swansea. No lives were reported lost.
