Event and Historical Information:
The MARIE THERESE was a wooden Brigantine, built in 1884 and registered in Bordeaux. The vessel was lost on the 19th January 1907 after becoming stranded off the Helwick Bank in a southerly force 3, while sailing from Archaron to Swansea with a cargo of pit-props under Master A. Autin. The MARIE THERESE is listed within the Lloyds Register (1906-7, M-388) with a length of 90.9ft, beam 24.9ft, depth of hold 12.4ft, and a gross tonnage of 209. The ship was originally built in Nantes by Alleau and Aubert and had been sheathed in felt & yellow metal in June 1902. The owners at the time of loss are listed by Lloyds as Vve Trichet.
