Description
This record consists of a documentary reference to a shipping casualty which has been assigned to the maritime named location BREAKSEA POINT pending more information which may allow a more precise location for the loss to be assigned.

Event and Historical Information:
The TAMER belonged to the poprt of Exeter and was enroute from that port to Newport on 9 March 1823. the vessel went onshore at Breaksea Point and became a total wreck. The report from Cardiff printed in Lloyds List on 11 march 1823 noted that the master's name was Waring and that he had been drowned in the incident. Part of the materials from the wreck had been recovered.
