Description
The extensive salvage and dispersal operations undertaken early in 1949 and in 1970 suggesting that only scattered small wreckage may remain.

Event and Historical Information:
The DEVONIA was enroute from Appledore to Avonmouth, in ballast, when it detonated as German mine on 28 October 1940 off Barry. The coaster subsequently foundered with the loss of three lives. The wreck was considered a navigational hazard within the Barry Roads and was dispersed using explosives in 1949. Additional wreckage was recovered in 1970. More recent surveys have failed to detect any large scale remains.
