Event and Historical Information:
The MINERVA was a 203nt wooden schooner built in 1855 and registered at Dublin. At time of loss, the vessel was owned by W O McCormick, Kingstown, and under the command of F Stone. The schooner was carrying a cargo of coal from Cardiff to Lanzarottee, when it encountered a southwesterly force 10 gale and took shelter in Caldey Roads. The MINERVA was subsequently in collision wifh the brigantine ELLA VAIL of Nova Scotia (see NPRN 272380). Both vessels foundered.
