Description
This wreck, which may be the CHARLOTTE, lies with its keel orientated 100/280 degrees and is semi-buried. It has a length of 24m and a breadth of 10m. Debris extends some 16m to the west-southwest.

Event and Historical Information:
The CHARLOTTE was a 153nt wooden schooner built at Grangemouth in 1864. At time of loss on 7 November 1878, the vessel was owned by D McKennan of Plockow, County Ross, and under the command of K McKennan (the schooner was registered at Banff). The CHARLOTTE was carrying a cargo of china clay from Poole to Runcorn when it sprang a leak. Part of the cargo was thrown overboard, but the water continued to gain on the pumps. Eventually the schooner had to be abandoned some 15 miles southwest of St Ann's Head. The Board of Trade Inquiry found the loss to be a defect in the vessel. This wreck was located in September 2003.
