This record consists of a documentary reference to a shipping casualty which has been assigned to the maritime named location RIVER SEVERN pending more information which may allow a more precise location for the loss to be assigned.
Event and Historical Information:
The SARAH was a 26nt wooden trow built in 1838. At time of loss, the vessel was owned by the Severn & Canal Carrying Company Ltd and registered at Gloucester. The trow was carrying a cargo of coal and deals from Cardiff to Gloucester on 15 February 1884 under the command of G Withers. The trow was in collision with the Newport registered smack MODERATOR and subsequently foundered.
