Description
NAR SN64SE4

Discontinuous linear earthwork features representing a leat, or aqueduct, running roughly 1,150m around the butt-end of a ridge above the Dolaucothi gold mining complex (see Nprn95141), emerging from forestry at SN67574065 and ending at a reservoir above the Allt Cwmhenog opencast workings at SN66784036 (Lewis & Jones 1969, 254): two areas have been investigated; in 1969 a section across apparent mutiple channels, at about SN67464050 (Lewis 1977, 25-6 fig 6), & a further section, with survey of the terminal reservoir, in 1993 (Burnham & Burnham 1993; 2004, 217-220): the full extent of this feature has now been shown to extend beyond what was originally thought to be its source, some 3.0km to the north-east, extending into the Gwenlais system (see Nprn275693).

Part of:
Annell-Gwenlais leat system (Nprn303911).
