DescriptionThe Old Toll house, Friog, is probably contemporary with the construction of the turnpike road at the end of the 18th century. It is single storey; L-plan of whitewashed rubble with slate roof towards Friog and stone slates to the rear. It has a canted bay to the north end with a hipped roof and projecting porch facing main road; ribbed, boarded door. There is central rubble stack with plain cornice and weather coursing and a cross-gable to the rear with a later extension. Saved from demolition c.1970.
