An open, water-filled mine shaft sunk from the base of a possible earlier openwork. The shaft runs some 20m downslope and is between 2m and 3m wide. A barrow-way extends horizontally from the shaft entrance onto a spoil tip situated immediately downslope. There seem to be no bases for headgear, so if it existed it may have been a simple lightweight system. The exact purpose of the shaft is unknown and the associated tip may be debris from shaft sinking. The shaft itself is not directly visible but is thought to be about 1.5m square. Noted during an upland survey conducted by Archaeophysica during 2005-6
