Description
The White Lion Hotel, Bala, dates from the mid-18th century with early-19th century additions. A 3 storey brick building with attics and dormers, it has a dated stone of 1759. The main block is gabled and there is imitation timber framing. A coffee room in the right wing of the Hotel is mentioned in George Borrow's "Wild Wales". During the cycling craze of the 1880s and 1890s, the White Lion was the headquarters of the local branch of the Cyclists' Touring Club.
