Description
Clawdd-y-Dre, according to an inscription on the front gable, was built by Henry Whittingham (HW), bailiff of the town, in 1726. It stands on a bluff overlooking the south-eastern corner of the town walls and the bank at the foot of the garden has some curved masonry that may be part of a bastion.

The building itself is a substantial town house of two storeys with significant surviving timber-framing of sixteenth to seventeenth century date. The exterior has an early eighteenth century character. The northern end has a brick shaped flemish gable.
