Description
An area of limestone quarrying centred around a quarry, approximately 60m by 70m and up to 8m deep. A trackway leads from the quarry to the minor road to the south. There are some spoil heaps in the base of the quarry and earthwork ramps within the complex. There are several small natural and quarried outcrops of stone. Some of the spoil heaps show evidence of lime burning with some deposits of coal ash and burnt lime being visible. The quarry is located within an area of Gilwern Oolite rocks, on of the series of Carboniferous lime stones.
