Description
A drainage ditch, 2m wide and aligned in a northeast-southwest direction across the hill slope. There is a bank to the south side formed from the outcast material, including boulders. This ditch is shown on the 1st, 2nd and 4th editions of the Ordnance Survey maps and also on modern mapping, indicating that it is a significant structure within the landscape. It was probably constructed to divert water away from the coal mining areas to the south.
