Brake for slate mine incline. Pair of walls about 0.8m thick, 4m long. S wall 2m high, N wall 3m high. 2 cross beams, axle still in place. Metal structure of drum and brake still intact. Manufacturer's mark: Turner Bros Newtown. Graffiti on inside face of S wall DPLL 1884 with 4 backwards. Inside N wall of brake near front are two bolts set into stone 0.5m apart vertically, beneath brake lever. (A.C.K. Roseveare & N.A.R. Vaughan, AP, 29/03/2007)
