Largest part of the slate mine/quarry workings visible. The phase 2 workings seem to be primarily quarrying, working out the collapsed underground phase 1 workings. Phase 2 entrance leads into open chasm. Phase 1 entrance runs into working roughly halfway up the current face on N side. This is aligned with an old mine face visible on the SW side. Two partly choked mine passages can be seen opening out the back of the chasm, presumably from phase 1 workings. (A.C.K. Roseveare & N.A.R. Vaughan, AP, 29/03/2007)
