PeriodPrehistoric
DescriptionOn the E bank of a stream lies a crescentic mound, open on the streamward side. It measures 17m (NNE-SSW) by 14m, with a height of 1.5m on the N, 1m elsewhere; internally it is 0.8m high.
Although the shape and location of the mound are right for an ancient cooking place, its consistency appears to be too coarse, the stones in its make-up too large rather than the usual gravel consistency. There is, for example, a boulder perched on the NE side of the mound. But this character could be explained by the subsequent use of the mound as a field clearance dump.
Located in a pasture field, the mound itself is overgrown with trees.
