Description
The remains consist of a roughly square enclosure defined on three sides by a strong bank composed of rubble and fronted by a bold rock-cut ditch; on the lowest E. side the bank is much reduced and only marshy traces of a ditch survive. The sloping enclosure retains clear traces of two rectangular buildings lying E.-W. with their upper ends accommodated in scoops cut into the hillside.
The only other feature now apparent is the large mound set in the S.W. angle. Its location prompts the speculation that it might mark the site of a tower to bolster the most vulnerable and overlooked W. front.
