Description
This site was 'eligibly situated, in a rich bottom on the banks of the Teivi, and backed by a luxuriant forest of oak...built by James Green..and finished by R.W.Leslie Esq', Beauties of South Wales where it is illustrated and shown with a clump of trees enclosed by wooden palings in the foreground. The circular enclosure around the site is seen on aerial photographs on which certain trees ,may relate to this early site (see RCAHMW 905021/13).

The circularity of the site was owed to intentional design, not to its taking over some early enclosure. It had to be abandoned owing to the flooding of the Teifi.
