Description
The Dolgellau war memorial is located in a park/play area near the bridge, a short distance from the town centre.
The monument is a tapered, rusticated granite cross in Celtic style set on a tapered pedestal on a three-tiered base, and is surrounded by a dwarf wall supporting cast iron railings. The east and west faces of the cross pillar have incised decorated memorial panels at its base, in English and Welsh respectively. Polished panels on the east, west and north faces of the pedestal are inscribed with the names of those from the district who fell in the First World War. Inside the wall on the west side of the memorial, where the railings have been removed, are set two upright slabs of paler granite on which are inscribed the names of the fallen of the Second World War.
