Description
Grounds and gardens associated with a villa built in 1826-7 (NPRN 5007).
The compact grounds, about 5 acres or 2ha, are depicted in some detail on the OS County series 1st edition (Cardigan. XXIX.13 1889). The house lies between the public road and the river Teifi, turning it's back on the road and facing south towards the river. On the south and east sides is a two and a half acre area of lawns and shrubberies, threaded by serpentine paths and the curving carriage drive leading to a turning circle in front of the house. South-east again is a more informal area leading down to the river, divided between mixed woods and pasture.
A branch of the drive leads to the coachhouse and stables to the rear, built alongside the road. On the west side of the grounds are walled formal kitchen gardens.
