Description
NAR SH68SW1

Earthworks of a cluster of six roundhouses set across south/south-west facing slopes. There is a sub-rectangular terraced platform roughly 100m to the west and downslope to the south-east is an array of (cultivation?) terraces once identified as a 'Roman Camp'.
The roundhouses were from 4.0-6.0m across. Four are represented by terraced emplacements up to 1.0m deep, the remaining two by shallow depressions. They may have had timber, earthen or wattled walls topped by conical thatched roofs probably from 4.0-6.0m tall. They are characteristic of later prehistoric settlement ad similar sites have sometimes produced Roman material when excavated.
The terrace to the west is about 13m east-west by 6.6m. It is terraced up to 1.7m deep and 1.0m high. It is likely to be a building emplacement, probably medieval or later.
