DescriptionNAR SH95NE3
A centrally disturbed round barrow, 19m in diameter & 1.0m high, set on the summit of a ridge: excavation, 1973, showed that a bank of clay, derived from a perimeter ditch, had been raised against a wattled stake circle, 13.5m in diameter; an earlier stake circle was partly traced; within the area enclosed, a central, burnt rectangular feature, 1.0m by 1.5m, defined by stake holes, provided a radio-carbon date centring on 1660BC; a clay-capped turf mound was subsequently raised within the clay bank.
