Castell Cymmer is a roughly oval enclosure, about 112m east-west by 68m, set in a promomtory position, defined by scarps above natural slopes on the south and east. It has a rather complex system comprising up to three lines of ramparts and ditches on the north and west, having a west-facing entrance.
