St Michael's Parish Church was originally constructed in the medieval period within a circular churchyard. The roof and screen, dating to circa.1500, survived the C19th restoration of the church but the 'border tower', which is shown in early photographs, was lost. Several wall paintings were recorded in 1988 and included a painted rood screen, and religious text and Royal Arms above the rood screen. Some of these have now been lost.
