Description
North's Navigation Company was formed in 1889 to take over and expand the coal interests of John Brogden & Sons in the Ogmore and Garw areas. The railway was built shortly afterwards and ran from Caerau Colliery (SS86679454) to Cognant Colliery (SS85609328) where there was a connection with the GWR, and thence parallel and to the east of the GWR Maesteg - Cymmer railway to a junction with the Port Talbot Railway at Maesteg (SS85189173).
