Description
NAR SO02NW11

Ruinous structure set at the south-western angle of the circuit of Brecon town walls (NPRN 305725). A square tower, thought to be thirteenth or fourteenth century. The gateway is thought to have been inserted into this structure. This had a single pointed arch, now fallen, over a carriage way 3.0m wide. It is likely to be the Lower Watergate at the bottom of a Mr Maybery's garden mentioned in 1809.
The tower is abutted by and forms part of, the garden wall of 3 Buckingham Place (NPRN 25182).
