Description
The three round cairns at Blaen-y-Cwm are located in a saddle at 410m above sea level aligned with, and on the east side of, a mountain trackway running north from Cefn Moel to Mynydd Llangorse. The three are close-set in a north-south line. All are turf-covered and, aside from the southernmost which is marked by a central excavation, relatively undisturbed. A footpath passes between the two southern cairns.

This cemetery lies within 1km - 2km of several contemporary ritual and funerary sites and therefore constitutes an important element in a wider prehistoric landscape. This site is unusual, however, in that it comprises three substantial mounds in a close-spaced grouping. Aside from the upper part of the southernmost cairn, they are well preserved earthworks with considerable potential for revealing structural features, burials and buried land surfaces.

See individual site records (NPRNs 404435-7).
