Medieval defences of the borough of Usk (Nprn268071), consisting of a bank and ditch, thought to date from the 13th-14th century describing a rough quadrilateral, depicted on a map of 1801, with sides; 280m along the north, 700m along the north-east, 650m along the south-east, the remaining, western side being closed by the Usk: an 80m section of ditch remains, centred at SO37650189, along the northern side, below and possibly associated with the castle (Nprn94856), whilst a 330m length of bank and ditch, the "Clawdd Du" centred at SO37980046, is preserved on the south-east.
