Description

St Michael's Church, Lower Machen, is built of a mixture of Gothic Perpendicular and Decorated styles, both gable and long-wall entry type. A prominent feature of this Church is the integral tower. Painted features include the recesses flanking the chancel arch, that on the north side seems to have been reserved for figure. The Royal Arms in gilt relief are late Hanoverian, and there are painted letters on an eighteenth century stone benefactions table. A series of hatchments has also been noted.
