DescriptionNAR ST38SE5
The stump of what is thought to be a medieval cross is found within the churchyard of St Mary Magdalene's Church at Goldcliff (NPRN 307350). It consists of a socket-stone supporting a 0.9m high fragment of octagonal cross-shaft and it set upon a circular mound with a drystone revetment, perhaps 2.0m across. The mound might cover a stepped base or it have been raised in response to disastrous flooding in the seventeenth century.
